The old fashioned is a cocktail made by muddling sugar with bitters, adding whiskey or, less commonly, brandy, and garnishing with a twist of citrus rind.

Ingredients
- 1 sugar cube (or 1 teaspoon honey)
- 2 shots (60mL) rye or bourbon
- 3 dashes Convict bitters
- A few large ice cubes
- Garnish: orange peel
Method
- Muddle the sugar cube and Convict bitters with one teaspoon of water in a chilled glass. If you're using honey, combine the Convict bitters with one teaspoon of honey.
- Fill the glass with large ice cubes, add the whisky, and stir to combine.
- Express the oil of the orange peel over the glass, then drop in.
